03/12/2008: Le Ministère de la Culture et de l'Enseignement Supérieur, Winged Skull Records a.s.b.l.; maison de disque luxembourgeoise (www.wingedskull.com); en partenariat avec Paper Bird s.à r.l.; éditeur musical et agence de promotion (www.paperbird.lu) ainsi que 6mic Produxions; maison de disque hip hop luxembourgeoise (www.myspace.com/6micprod) s'associent pour mettre sur pieds un projet social qui consiste à organiser des concerts privés (instrument acoustique et chant) dans des milieux sociaux, pédagogique ou de soin.
L'idée consiste à envoyer des artistes locaux dans des hôpitaux, des centres de jeunes, des maisons de retraite, des foyers et tout autre lieu généralement un peu délaissé par le monde de l'art afin d’y jouer des concerts. Il s'agit de s'adapter aux conditions du lieu (pas/peu d'amplification, pas de lumières...). Ces évènements seront organisés en collaboration avec la structure d'accueil.

Le Rock-a-Field est un festival par définition et non une fête. Il n'est pas ouvert à tous les publics et ne donne pas la possibilité à des artistes professionels et amateurs de se produire bénévolement dans une ambiance de fête populaire. Il s'agit d'un des plus gros appareils événementiels de la Grand-Région et n'a donc pas sa place dans la programamtion de la Fete de la Musique d'après nous.
Un tel festival ne familiarise pas les gens avec la pratique de la musique et est dénoué de tout sens social ou d'échange culturel. Les gens y viennent pour écouter et voir des têtes d'affiche qu'ils connaissent déjà bien moyennant un paiement important pour leurs billet d'entrée et pour leurs consommations sur place.
Par ailleurs, les musiciens sont loin de s'y produire bénévolement ou simplement pour couvrir leurs frais et les groupes disparaissent dans leur backstage aussitot leur set terminé. Il n'y a donc pas de vraie rencontre avec le public.
Nous dénoncons par la présente une mise à plat de toute une édition de la Fete de la Musique car un événement ayant réuni 14000 personnes l'année dernière par un dimanche pluvieux ne peut que nuir gravement à une Fete de la Musique se déroulant un samedi cette année. Cet événement va vider la ville de Luxembourg et toutes les villes avoisinanates d'une grande partie de leur populaition entre 15 et 35 ans. Quelle belle fête!
Il semblerait que David ait perdu le combat contre David cette fois ci et David n'est pas soutenu outre mesure alors que Goliath a manifestement aussi été aidé par le passé...David ne comrend pas pourquoi on ne l'aide pas et saigne en silence.
La fête de la musique n'aura pas lieu cette anné pour les rockers.
Vive le rock quand-même!

Hi folks,
we've been lazy for updating our sites again but not in our actions. We have loads of new stuff coming up soon!
16th of February will be the release date for the new VERSUS YOU album. It's called THIS IS THE SINKING and we're planning a great general sinking at DEN ATELIER (Luxembourg) together with Eternal Tango and Babyoil. The party will be followed by various non-lounge, anti-electro, rocker-friendly Djs for everyone who's fed up with the posh Luxembourg nightlife. This will be the right Occasion to selebrate Olliewood Skateshop's 10 year anniversary!!! A great celebration night for us and the whole scene...
the next major events that are already set for 2008 are a WHAT'S UP party at Muko Muko at the end of March in collaboration with Winged Skull and G-Spot an the NOFX show at Rockhal on 23rd June. You'll be able to buy tickets for those events soon.
We are also very excited to welcome new warriors in our army. 6 MIC PRODUXION joined our network. From now on Paper Bird will be releasing rock records with Winged Skull records and hip hop records will be released through 6 Mic. Several releases are already planned for 2008 (see below).

winged skull will be organising its first secret show in Luxembourg on 1st of October with Emirsian (songwriter-Germany) and Communica(u)tion (songwriter-Luxembourg). You can drop a mail to gillesATwingedskullDOTcom for reservations.
Reservations are the only way to get to the show as the place will be kept secret until the day before the gig. People who have made reservations will be informed by personal e-mail or sms on the place to come to.
Seats are strictly limited and the place is tiny, so hurry up if you're interested. The participation fee is 10 EUR and you'll get free drinks during the show time. both artists will play for 40 minutes each.

Stay tuned for upcomming Winged Skull releases! The new Kunn album will be ready soon. They will leave for a full european tour this summer and they will relaese there their new album DON'T BURN MY PARADISE this summer. Precise date to be announced.
Extinct & dEFDUMp will be on tour in Eastern Europe too during July. They will share the stage with the French ska-punk wonder in Latvia and Russia for 5 shows.
DADOES will be releasing their new album in collaboration with Winged Skull too.

Hello rockers and rockettes,
Some of you have been reacting to our “donate for rock” bulletins on myspace and I think that some of you might need some explanations in order to fully understand the situation.
First of all Winged Skull IS NOT DYING! It’s just changing…
A little bit of history first:
5th February 2000: Giordano and me organized the very first concert together at Shiny’s café formerly known as “beim Jhonny” in Kehlen. This is the moment when the WS spirit emerged out of our drunken heads. An organization to promote punk music in Luxembourg; that’s what it was supposed to be…
Gilles joined and more than 400 organized shows later and after more than 25 albums and compilations released, Winged Skull Records is not exclusively dedicated to punk-rock anymore. Our current releases reach from punk to pop-rock including metal and indie-rock. We even have some hip hop projects at this time…
Winged Skull’s major aim today is to offer management, booking, promotion, recording, merchandising and touring services to local and international bands to promote the Luxembourg music scene in Europe. We have bands touring in 28 different European countries, spreading CDs and making promotion for other local Luxembourg bands.
We’ve also started to work with professional press agencies and promotion networks in order to offer the bands the best possible conditions to prepare their tours. This costs a lot of money and even more time.
What’s more, we just bought a brand new tour van that we’re planning to rent to bands for the best price we can do and we’re still releasing CDs.
We’ve been doing this for a very long time now and we have been spending an incredible amount of our private money to keep it going by putting up shows together with the Schalltot Collective, Ashcan Records, Olliewood skateshop and many more without earning any money.
Winged Skull gets no money from any public or private administration. This has never occurred until now. We’re only sponsored from time to time for single events by music shops or by Sacem Luxembourg.
All the Winged Skull members work hard at their daytime jobs before they start doing the Winged Skull work in the evening and we have now reached a point where at least one of us will have to do this professionally if we want to do good work for the bands asking us for our help.
By asking you to donate a bit, we don’t really ask you for your money although every donation is welcome and more than needed. The real idea behind this action is to give you the opportunity to show us whether we’re important or not as one of the only music labels in Luxembourg. Honestly, I don’t think that your donations will make our financial situation evolve significantly but at least it will show us that we have an independent music scene in Luxembourg that agrees with what we’re doing and that thinks that what we do is important for this small country.
We need your support more than your money! Buy the bands’ CDs, go to local shows, show the artists that you respect them for what they do and please respect the venues and their neighbours!
Last but not least, we'd like to express our gratitude to all those who donated. This means a lot to us! Thank you!!!
